Oaks Lodge sits in a third of an acre of woodland under a canopy of mature oaks. From the balcony and the hot tub you look through the trees to the Long Mynd, with the trickle of the stream below you and, often, squirrels chasing each other through the branches.

It is secluded, yet the train station is five minutes’ walk away and the middle of Church Stretton only a few minutes more. That mix of seclusion and closeness is what sets it apart.

The walk in

You park in a dedicated area and follow a gravel path, about 80 metres, along the lower level of the garden. It passes through planted slopes and a gateway of two great oaks. That is where you first see the lodge: the raised balcony, the front windows, and the stream flowing gently from the waterfall behind, except in periods of low rainfall.

Good to know before you book

  • Sleeps two. No pets, because there are cats and chickens on site.
  • Hot tub closes by 10.30pm. We recommend sessions of 45 to 60 minutes, with a maximum of three hours’ use a day.
  • No barbecues, because smoke drifts to the neighbouring property up the hill.
  • Cigarettes outdoors only, and strictly no weed anywhere on the site.
